Sunday Funday

Last Sunday, August 1, we decided to take a day trip to Chimney Rock State Park, all five of us. Chimney Rock is a gorgeous state park located very close to North Carolina's famous Lake Lure. Since it is only about 25 miles southeast of Asheville, Grandma T came along for the adventurous outing! It has been a hot, hot, summer; and when we woke up this particular Sunday the high was only in the upper 70s and it was time to do something outdoors. We packed up the dogs and Miss Ava and hit the road. Only about an hour and half from Charlotte, and we were there! We hiked Hickory Nut Falls Trail; about 1.5 miles; to see the 404 foot waterfall, the second highest on the east coast. It was a perfect and enjoyable hike, except for one small hiccup. The dogs were enjoying themselves until Charlie was caught off guard by another dog, also named Charlie, and he began to bark at him! As soon as our Charlie got to "meet" the other Charlie, everything was fine!
