Cousins & Smiles

It's been a challenging 10 weeks, that's for sure.  Emma has struggled with both reflux and colic; but she is on the mend!  Adjusting to two babies and one of them unable to get comfortable can certainly pull on your heart strings.  Luckily, Emma is now sleeping every night 6-8 hours at a time, a quick meal, then back to sleep for about another 4 hours.  It's been wonderful.  Emma spent a few weeks crying around the clock and then she just started crying in the evenings.  But the last few days have had very little crying - knock on wood!  I am not sure if it's because she is outgrowing the colic or if it's because we've had the help of our terrific family.

Grandma T has spent several weekends with us, taking her turn walking laps around our house and hers to calm our baby who needed to be on the move.  Then, last week, Grammy and Grandpa M took a turn at helping with their "shifts" in holding Emma to try to keep her calm.  Then, this week, we are so lucky to have cousin Jordan here to help, mostly with keeping Ava occupied.  The combination of all the help we've received lately is so appreciated, I can't even describe it.  Aunt Katie was also a big help, as she is blessed with a perfectly content and happy little baby boy!  When we were visiting she helped bathe Ava while I walked laps with Emma.  Uncle Daniel finally got to meet Emma and he and Christine took their turns holding our babes!  Katie and I thought about making a break for it and leaving them with the kiddos; but decided we couldn't leave our babykins!  Emma just needs to meet her Uncle Kevin and Kate (as well as most of her extended family) and then she is set!!!

Emma's two month stats are in and she is measuring perfectly on target to be a teeny baby!
Head: 37 CM - 10-20th Percentile
Weight: 9 lbs 11 ounces - 10-20th Percentile
Length: 23 inches - 50-75th Percentile
Much like her sister - she will likely be long and skinny!

I am happily back to work.  It was actually harder this time around to go back to work because Emma spent several days refusing to drink from a bottle and mostly crying.  This was heart breaking as I work from home and took conference calls while listening to my teeny babe crying in the other room.  Luckily, she has warmed up to Miss Bobbi and things are getting better every day.  That is all for now, enjoy these quick pics of our girls and their awesome cousin Jordan.  We are so in love with Emma's smiles - they seemed to take forever to get here!  Jeff said it best when he said "babies are much cuter when they start smiling"!
