Birthday Follow Up

Here are a few pictures from Ava and Jeff's birthday. Grandpa T treated us to a very special brunch at Highland Lake Inn in Flat Rock, NC - we had an absolutely lovely time.

I also realized that I forgot to update everyone on Ava's stats for her 1st Birthday:

90-95th Percentile for Height 31 "
25-50th Percentile for Weight 20.3 LBS

Eating Habits: Ava is basically eating us out of house and home. She will eat anything, and everything that we have in the house! Her favorites are: Odwalla Breakfast bars, pineapples, grapes, carrots and chicken nuggets!

Sleeping Habits: We get a solid 12 hours out of Ava each night, with the exception of 1 wake up recently since her molars are all popping through at the same time! Poor girl, she will just be sitting up in her crib wining, pointing to her cheeks. It's a sad sad thing, but we are just so thankful that she won't remember this!

Motor Skills: Ava can take about 4 definite steps these days. They are VERY slow, and very drunken looking. Entertaining nonetheless. We are heading to NYC for an O'Connell family trip in December, and if she would just hold off of walking until then, it would be ideal... but we shall just have to wait and see!

Handedness: Ava still seems to be more lefty than righty. Although it changes, she will always reach for things first with her left hand, but often switches to her right hand... another thing that we will just have to wait and see on!

Knowledge: Ava is so smart, and obviously I'm a little biased but still, when asked she can point to her head, nose, mouth, ears and lately our Christmas tree.

Vocabulary: We've got a talker on our hands! Ava can say: Dad, Dada, Daddy, Ma, Mama, Mom, Dog, Doggy, Pa, Papa and lately her first complex work BANANA! We hope to add to this vocab list here soon because everything else she just points to and grunts, and the grunting can get frustrating when we don't know exactly what she wants. In a perfect world her next words would be "please" and "thank you" but I am thinking that I would have a miracle baby if that's what she said next!
