The week of Thanksgiving we traveled to St. Louis to visit with Jeff's side of our family. We had, arguably, our best holiday yet as a little family! It was so relaxing and wonderful to just relax with family. Ava warmed right up to Nana and Papa T. So much so, that she reminds us everyday "Nana Papa live St Lou". Now, whenever she sees a plane in the sky she tells us "Nana Papa" and points in the air! Her sentences are certainly getting better with time, and we are rather impressed that she knows she went on a plane to see her Great Grandparents. Ava loved playing soccer in the front yard with Daddy and Papa (sorry I didn't get any good pictures of Papa chasing her around).
We had a lovely dinner with the Zychinski family, where Ava found her new best friend, Ben. She wouldn't leave his side all night, and he was SO good with her. When he would lay on the ground, she would lay right on top of him, she had to be right next to Ben all night. It's funny - she may have had a little crush on him!!! On Thanksgiving day, we got to meet our newest cousin, Lucas Edward Zychinski - and let me tell you; he's a heartbreaker! We are very fond of Luke's parents, Dan and Kristen, and were so happy to see how well they have adjusted and embraced parenthood; now we are tasked with trying to get them to relocate to Charlotte so our kids can play together! :) We would certainly settle for visits though!
On Friday, we were scheduled to visit with Great Aunt Barb. Unfortunately, her flight schedule home from Canada was altered due to an illness on her staff at work - and we missed her. And when I say we missed her, we really did. Aunt Barb makes the most fantastic stationary and cards that she regularly sends to Ava. We love love love Aunt Barb and hope that she makes her way to Charlotte this spring - preferably after Baby Girl #2 arrives; but we would love to see her anytime!
In lieu of visiting with GAB, we decided to walk around the St Louis zoo. It was a lot of fun, even though Ava was more interested in the ride along trains than she was with the animals. We were very surprised by this since she LOVES animals! Guess she loves trains more! All in all, it was a Thanksgiving week that we will never forget - it truly helped us to remember just how thankful we are to have such a wonderful family - on both sides!
I can't wait until this summer when we spend a week at the Jersey Shore visiting Mommy's side of the family! :)
Enjoy some of our pictures from St Louis.
