Big Girl Bed

This was a BIG week in the Tettambel house. We transitioned Ava from crib to toddler bed. Thank goodness her crib is a convertible crib because we didn't have to go out and buy a new bed or anything, just took the front rail off and replaced it with this sleep guard. We made a HUGE fuss over it, becoming a big girl and Ava did great.

On her first night in the bed, she made sure to get her baby ready for bed, as she does every night, tucked her baby into bed with her, and then realized she could break free!!! The first night we were a little worried, so I just sat in the glider and read myself a book while Ava was falling fast asleep - until all of a sudden, I caught her in the act! She had sprung up very quietly, and was soon standing and crawling her way out to give Mama one last hug. I explained to Ava that as much as love hugs, I love a well rested Ava too and that she needed to get back in her big girl bed. She did and the rest has been history. She's been a really great sleeper in her big girl bed; even in the mornings she doesn't crawl out and explore her room - she just sits up in bed and calls for Mama or Daddy and waits for us to come up to her room, before getting out of her bed. She has surprisingly done exceptionally well. She moved her "Ava" chair from PBK to the edge of her bed to help her climb up, it's not very high at all, but for some reason she prefers to have this step to get into bed comfortably. No problem by us!! The last picture was her fast asleep on her first night in the bed!

We couldn't be more proud of our big girl!
